A FOUNDER'S stock certificate from one of the small railroads in the Yucatan based in Merida for 100 Pesos, dated Apr 1, 1901, has a great vignette of a steam engine at center top.  It measures 13" by 10.5", printed in black with blue/green color underprint and frame, has orange 10c Revenue Stamp at center bottom. Printed  by Tip. y Lit. Moderna (NP) (probably Merida. It is in used condition as it has been folded twice vertically; some edge chipping at edges of folds. The left fold is split about 60% of the fold. Many of these smaller railroads were combined into larger lines so there would not be a need for transfer from railroad line to another. That probably came in handy during WWI as Merida became one of the richest cities in the world. They were exporting SISAL that was made into rope that was made into rope that was in need to make rope for the Naval ships which were still mostly sailing vessels. Postpaid in USA.
